Lippia - sweet herb Colada

Lippia dulcis "Colada" - a very sweet plant and natural sugar substitute

'Colada' is an especially sweet variety of lippia (Lippia dulcis), known as a natural sugar substitute. It is many times sweeter than ordinary sugar and approximately three times sweeter than stevia, while containing no calories.

The leaves are aromatic with mint and lemon notes, green but turning reddish in the sun. The plant forms a bushy, broad clump, making it suitable for growing both in pots and in beds.

☀️ Position: Sunny or partially shaded location.
🌱 Soil: Fertile, loose and well-drained.
💧 Watering: Regular, but avoid standing water.
❄️ Overwintering: Not frost-hardy. Overwinter in a bright room or grow as an annual.

In the kitchen: Use the leaves as a natural sugar substitute in desserts, teas and drinks.
