Olive herb - green santolina

Key features:
Type: Biennial plant that overwinters in the Latvian climate only in a greenhouse or indoors. 
Height: Up to 40 cm, compact and upright.
Aroma: Aromatic foliage with olive notes.
Flowers: Decorative yellow flower buttons, blooming in the second year.

Growing and care:
☀️ Position: Sunny and warm.
🌱 Soil: Light, loose soil with good drainage is recommended. Highly fertilised soil is not necessary, but it is important that the roots are not kept constantly wet.
💧 Watering: Regular
❄️ Overwintering: During the Latvian winter, it overwinters successfully only in an unheated greenhouse or a cool, bright indoor space.

Uses:
In the kitchen: The leaves are used in pizza, salad, vegetable, meat, fish and pasta dishes.
Traditionally for health: An infusion aids digestion and acts as an antiseptic.
In the garden: Can be used to relieve itching from insect bites.
